Composition
Seth Crail has composed music for several award-winning short films and indie features such as The Circus of Mirage, July Rising, and Raising Ants. His score for the film Mississippi Messiah, featured at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in 2022, showcases his unique ability to merge orchestral elements with jazz and blues language.
As an additional writer, Seth is always finding inspiration in his work with other composers. Recently, he collaborated with James Everingham on the fantasy film Robin and the Hoods (2024) and with Austin Hammonds on the Christmas-horror film Santastein (2022).
Informed by his expertise as an arranger and orchestrator, Seth loves to blend traditional acoustic elements with more modern instruments and writing styles. Many of his scores fuse genres ranging from folk and jazz to rock and classical. Working closely with Bleeding Fingers Music, Seth has written hybrid-orchestral, reality, and crime drama tracks, many of which can be found in Sony’s Extreme Music Library.
Orchestration
Seth Crail is an orchestrator and arranger based in Los Angeles, California. He has collaborated with artists such as Hans Zimmer and Emile Moserri, and his orchestrations can be heard on platforms including Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Sky Cinema.
At the University of Miami, Seth studied film scoring under the Emmy Award-winning composer Carlos Rafael Rivera, as well as jazz arranging with Grammy Award-winning composers Maria Schneider and John Daversa. As a Henry Mancini Institute Fellow, he refined his orchestration skills by writing and arranging for many of Frost’s award-winning ensembles along with several visiting artists such as Lucy Woodward and Donny McCaslin. In 2021, Seth won a Downbeat Magazine award for his studio orchestra arrangement of “Moon River.”
After graduating, Seth began orchestrating and producing for Catherine Joy’s company “Joy Music House.” As part of her team, he has contributed to a variety of films and TV shows such as Red White & Royal Blue, Speak No Evil, Presumed Innocent, and Death and Other Details among others. Beyond his work with Joy Music House, Seth has orchestrated for dozens of composers and studios, including the renowned Bleeding Fingers Music, where he helped produce the Blue Angels documentary and the 2024 L.A. Clippers Theme.
